What happens at the visit
A hygienist cleans your teeth first: she removes the hard buildup a toothbrush cannot reach, then polishes and flosses. The dentist then checks each tooth, your gums, your bite and the soft tissue of your mouth.
If you need X-rays, we take them during the cleaning and show them to you on the screen.
How long it takes

Plan on about an hour for a returning adult and 40 minutes for a child. A first visit is a full hour with the dentist, plus the cleaning if there is time.
What it costs
Many PPO plans pay for two cleanings and exams a year. We check yours before the visit. With no insurance, the Tallowood Care Plan covers both visits for one yearly fee.
Questions about cleanings and exams
How often should I have a cleaning?
Most people come once or twice a year. The dentist sets your schedule from the health of your teeth and gums, and may suggest every three or four months.
Can my child's cleaning be on the same day as mine?
Yes. Ask the front desk to book you back to back. Children can sit with you, or you with them.
